Violet

Low-growing plants. Hardy perennial, and a few annual herbs, comprising about 500 species distributed throughout temperate regions. Violets come from a tiny area of East Africa. Since their discovery in 1892 by Baron Walter von Saint Paul, many hybrid varieties have been introduced. Their qualities of durability, year-round flowering and attractive foliage have made violets the world's number one domestic plant.
